A delegation from the Embassy of Sweden in Beirut, represented by Ambassador Ann Dismorr, visited the villages of Jurd Al-Qayteh union of municipalities.
The visit aimed at following up on the progress of the RESLOG project in Akkar, implemented by SALAR International.
SALAR International’s work is centered around assisting local authorities on the institutional and social levels to improve service provision in the Dreib Al-Awsat and Jurd Al-Qayteh union of municipalities, with support from Sweden through the Swedish Regional Strategy for the Syria crisis.
The field visit started with a visit to the offices of Jurd Al-Qayteh union hosted by the head of union Mr. Abdulilah Zakaria. The RESLOG project activities and the union’s priorities during these challenging economic situations were the focus of discussions.
The delegation then attended a practical training session performed by the First Responder Team formed in partnership between the union and SALAR International under the Active Citizenship component.
The delegation also visited the Meshmesh Solid waste sorting and recycling factory, before finally ending the visit at the Azr Forest and Kammoua Plains natural landmarks.
